I’m not sure where I originally saw this recipe but the original can be found at dinnersdishesanddesserts.com.  They are the BEST molasses cookies you will ever make.

  1. In a bowl whisk together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, ginger, cloves, baking powder and salt until well combined. Set aside In the bowl of an electric mixer beat together butter, 5 Tbls of sugar, brown sugar for 3 minutes, until fluffy. Add the egg, and beat for 30 seconds. Mix in molasses. Slowly add flour mixture, until everything is just combined. Cover the dough and chill for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Scoop balls of dough about 1 inches in size. Roll each ball of dough in the remaining 3 Tbls of sugar. Place on a lined baking sheet, and bake for 12 minutes, or until the cookies are just set. Remove from the oven and let cook for a few minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
